The lift!

This time round I decided to take the lift. As I walked in I saw a man walking into the lift. It was an ancient type with two sets of chain doors to be open and closed manually. As we were 'lifted' up I tried to confirm with him that the institute was on the third floor. Nope he said I should take another lift! this one wont take me there. By that time we were on the third floor of the 'wrong' building and as he alighted he told the person getting into the lift to guide me to the right one. Those few minutes of getting to the ground floor were tense to say the least. Imagine being alone with a total stranger in an ancient lift in a deserted building!

Anyway we reached the ground floor and I promptly walked out of the building. That man led me (again!) to that narrow passage with those dingy stairs on the side. I was about to shout not again! Somehow I held back and said where is the lift? He pointed right in front of me and said cant u see? Finally I spotted a brown withering velvet covered wall on the end and a set of two maually operated chain doors a few feet from it. I figured that must be the lift. I walked to it opened the first and then second chain door saw the three round switches on the side that reminded me of Koi Mil Gaya. The three option I had were UP, DOWN and ALARM! Cant even imagine the century these lifts were installed. Ayway I pressed and reached the floor below the institute. Climbing up the stairs I wondered is it me being paranoid seeing troubles where thye dont exist or I have become more aware as a girl?
