Fanaa: worth a watch

Hi folks

Fanaa should come with a statutory warning: Please leave your brains at the ticket counter. This film is all emotions so don't mix logic and spoil it.

From the first few scenes where Aamir and Kajol meet to their falling in love- it defies common sense logic. But you would love the way characters develop- Kajol looks stunning and beautiful from scene one. You can make out some fine lines on Aamir's face though- that is he looks old!

I still cant make out how come such an 'intelligent' actor agreed to do a film that was so heavily loaded in favor of the heroine? The only saving grace for him would have been a not-so-good performance by the leading lady. But, here Kajol steals every scene, the whole movie from him!

The characters are engaging- you would want to know more of their world, to walk around and see more. The film is well crafted , script is tight and Kunal Kohli sets a fast pace for his movie, though it slacks here and there. But he is able to make you emotional for Rehan and Zooni.

You will love Zooni- the girl next door, blind but full of life and a will to love and live. Just the kind of role tailor made for Kajol. I cant think of a scene where she is less than excellent. She has lost weight and looks ravishing.

About Rehan Sr....Aamir.....hmmm. I remarked while walking out of the theatre- "those three hours of Aamir Khan was an overdose." His character is not as fleshed out as Kajol's and so it suffers. Many times the logic of his reactions, behaviour is missing. ( Sorry I forgot the warning).

Rehan Jr ( yes there is one in the movie) is a treat! The scenes where he explains about Rahul Dravid as his father (watch the movie people!) or what to do with the turmeric milk are excellent.

Rishi Kapoor has a bit longer role than Kiron Kher, but they both perform well. Tabu, Shiney Ahuja, Lara Dutta are all wasted.

Poland is beautiful and you will keep humming 'chand sifarish' for many days!

PS: Mr Bhardwaj I never knew my blogs were taken so seriously!
